Money Smart Week
What is Money Smart Week?
Money Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is achieved through the collaboration and coordinated effort of hundreds of organizations across the country including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies and the media. These groups come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week.
Our organization is one of the local partners and we are co-chairing the Money Smart Teens and Kids Essay Contest.
This contest requires that we get the word out to middle schools and high school administrators and counselors about the contest and prizes.
We need assistance in contacting local schools to notify them of the contest and once we receive the essays, our University volunteers will review and help select the group of finalist students that will be in the running for the final prizes.
This year (2017) our sponsor is Country Financial. They have agreed to award $5,000 in gifts to the winning students.
If you are interested in assisting, please notify us as soon as possible. We are in the process of coordinating this activity right now.
